Description:

NOTE: We thank to all the participants the patience you have had with the other article we posted before about the contest rules.
We have decided to make some changes due to the request of some of our artists and to make it more fun for our community.

JLsExpressions is proud to present a jewelry contest:

"OVERCOMING THE ECONOMIC CRISIS.”

As always, our event will take place at our home website www.jewelrylessons.com

and will be promoted in:

DETAILS

As you know, some of our main materials for the manufacturing of jewelry have risen significantly in price. This affects our sales greatly since the prices of our jewelry could become too high for some customers.

JL’s E invites you all to show your creativity using any materials you want just so that you are able to decrease the cost of your piece while still maintaining the quality of your art and workmanship.

CONTEST SELECTION PROCESS

Each one of the judges has the 3 categories to evaluate:

  • 1) TECHNIQUE AND EXECUTION:
  • this category will only be concerned with the technique, how well or beautifully finished the pieces are and solid execution. They will not take into consideration any other aspect or personal taste.
It is up to your creativity and the work of your hands to transform the ordinary into extraordinary.

  • 2) DESIGN AND THEME:
  • this category will take in consideration the flowing lines of the piece and how well it was composed and the main idea that is to find and create a piece which appears valuable and precious, but using materials that are less expensive as a way to overcome the crisis.
The secret ingredient to a rich look is you, the artist, not the price of materials.

  • 3) ORIGINALITY AND CREATIVITY:
  • this category will only take into consideration how creative and original the theme was developed. Also, if the piece is made on a technique in an unusual or special way.

During the second phase, judges will give points from 1 to 10 for each finalist entry. The entry with the most points will win the contest.

HOW TO POST THE PIECE?

To post a piece for the contest, you can post it in the main gallery (UPLOAD PROJECTS TO GALLERY).
The only difference is when choosing the category:

First:

JL.com's Expressions

Then choose a sub category:

Dec. 2009: Overcoming crisis

Please don’t forget to write the description for the judges to study the piece.
By following these steps your piece will belongs to the contest and can be also admired in the main gallery.

HOW MANY PIECES CAN YOU SUBMIT?

You can post as many pieces you want, but don't forget that quantity is not the same that quality.

DATE

The contest will last until January 31, 2010.
In these 2 months everybody can find enough time to design and make a beautiful piece before or after the holidays.

Our guest judge ABBY HOOK Said:: I would like to offer a prize from my latest design: The Seed of Change reversible pendant, which involves creating a frame, which skims one side of the bead, while on the other side only the outer structure wire is visible, giving the impression that the bead is poking out from the wire work.
