Description:
UPDATED FEB 11, 2009: WINNERS ANNOUNCED!
JewelryLessons.com contest: after working diligently on grading each one of the Finalists, judges have come up with the Winners! Congratulations Bobbi, Sandy and JudyR!
THIS IS AN INSPIRATIONAL CHALLENGE: The motivation behind this type of challenge is that although Valentine's day (and Mother's day) are holidays which bring enormous sales potential for jewelry makers, I feel that for whatever reason -- perhaps end of year holiday burnout -- they are not explored well enough. The idea is to create pieces which could be of inspiration to other jewelry makers, so they can make the most of these two sales events.

Selection Process
Each one of the judges will judge only one category from the following:
1) Technique and execution: the judge analyzing this category will only be concerned with the technique, how well or beautifully finished the pieces are. She will also look for solid execution, NOT taking into consideration any other aspect or personal taste.
2) Design and Theme: the judge analyzing this category will only take in consideration the flowing lines of the piece and how well it was composed. Also, if the design is within the Theme of the contest, which is love and valentine’s day. She will NOT look at execution, technique or originality.
3) Originality and creativity: the judge analyzing this category will only take into consideration how creative and original the theme was developed. Also, if the piece works on a technique in an unusual or un-orthodox way. She will not look at execution, design and composition.
During the second phase, judges will give points from 1 to 10 for each finalist entry, ONLY IN THEIR CATEGORY. The entry with the most points will win the contest!

I'm excited with this event. I haven't been doing my beads for quite a while.. Though, I'm sure that a lot of us here will be interested on this.. Would there be a 3rd Prize, 2nd Prize and the Major Winner??
~~ Smile :-) always ~~
About 2nd and 3rd prizes, I think not -- depending on the points awarded to the entries. If there are two entries which end up having almost the same amount of points, then we will award the second one an "Honor Prize".

Ok, so 2nd and 3rd prizes are still undecided -- if we have enough prizes to split it then we will.

Wow I nearly missed this. Must it be a brand new piece made?
Shona
Hmmm, I think it cannot be more than a few months old.
