Well, what makes a traditional clip-on work is that it's spring loaded with enough tension to hold it closed, pressing on the ear lobe just enough to hold the earring in place without squishing the lobe too much. That said, it wouldn't be too hard to make a loose spiral and slip it over the lobe, sort of like slipping a paper clip on a stack of papers. A spiral could be designed with just enough tension and one coil behind the lobe and one in front. It would be more of a slip-on than a clip-on............
