Fireline & 2mm Sterling Silver Beads..
December 22, 2008
Hello everyone!!
Is 20# Fireline--Crystal the best choice to do the Peyote Stitch with 2mm Sterling Silver beads (Non-seed beads, actual metal beads)?
I made me a ring using these beads and regular nymo thread, not the best choice, it broke the first day I wore it!
Thank you for all the help!

Hello! I use Fireline pretty exclusively for my off-loom bead weaving. 20# is nice and heavy, and will probably do the trick. The edges of these beads are fairly sharp, so as an extra precaution, I would do the weave as tightly as possible. This will minimize the sawing action on the edges.

Thank you Perri! I will give it a try soon.
I'm assuming a needle is not necessary, or is it?

Like Perri said, 20# Fireline is very heavy. I personally have not used it, but that is what I would use for this project. I would use a needle because it is less frustrating for me than trying to push the thread thru the tiny holes. The other option is to use two strands of 4# or 6# Fireline so that if one thread breaks, there is a backup thread to hold the piece together until you can repair it. You must remember that a ring will be subject to a lot of wear-and-tear, and that it WILL need to be repaired eventually. Cheers!
