How can I adapt this technique for a ring?
August 14, 2008
I want to make a ring by trapping a cabochon with the netted bezel setting. How would I adapt it? Should i make the shank and attach it to the base before starting? What happens to the long wires left for the bail?
Thanks!

Thanks! I actually have that tutorial too, so I will follow the instructions

Hello cristina, if you check outhttp://creativewirejewelryyoj.typepad.com/fsoj_2008/2008/04/to-match-or-not.html
I used Eni's tut but changed the base because of the stone having no hole.

You could make a ring shank out of thick wire: wrap the wire four times around a ring mandrel. Then use the ends to form the round base on which to hook the net. (See the image). No loose ends to deal with!
This shank is the same type used for the Ornate ring tutorial.
Hi Cristina. I've made a wonderful ring with this technique, what you need to do is this: after you make the ring shank wrap all the round base to make it sturdier, and just then you can begin to make the net. Try and you'll see!!! Hope this helps!!!
Cristina has posted a wonderful new tutorial on how to adapt the net bezel into a ring. Check out this tutorial: Netted Bezel ring by Cristina.
