Unaccessable Articles
February 02, 2010
I am one of those addicts for knowledge... things that intrigue me, keep me out of trouble, keeps me from making costly or embarrassing mistakes or hurting feelings. So I try to read up and lately in the articles section, I find when I click on several of the articles, they just won't open.
Anyone know why? It is a wee bit frustrating. The titles tempt me in, then I can't GET in. It just bounces me back to the top of the articles section page. *sigh*
Beth

This was happening to me a few days ago as well. However when I went in today this did not happen. Maybe there is a glitch?
Leigh
Hey Beth,
Are the articles you are trying to view by any chance in the Teacher's Lounge section??
If so - then alas they are only for teachers....same for certain Q&A's that pop up too...and yep - I know it's frustrating seeing a great Article or Q&A that draws your attention - then bam!...you can't access it!..lol
Before getting teacher status I came across the same thing!...so it's not your pc or anything like that.
Hope this helped answer your query.
cheers
Suzi
Oh, maybe it is. I will check. Are they labeled FOR teachers only?
Um, looks like it is a teacher only thing... Experienced Teacher Syndrome, Post Free Tutorials, Securing Tutorial pdfs, Understanding Pricing & Fees. So how do you figure out if you are good enough TO teach if we don't get the info before we teach? *scratches head*
Oh, it was in the articles section. Not in a specified Teacher's Lounge.
Yep they are posted in the Teachers Lounge, and anything in the Teacher's Lounge is as you guessed - for Teacher's only...soz about that!..lol
Hey that is the age old question re the "how do you know if your good enough to teach when you don't get the info before hand"!...lol
Seriously though - if you feel you have what it takes to teach skills - then go for it....
Mmm...now if the article wasn't in the Teacher's Lounge - (re your other post)...then it is possibly a glitch - or - your working with a broken link in your pc.
Simple to fix (if not a tech glitch)...all you need do is log out of JL - clear out the cache of your browser - shut down your browser - then re-open it...hopefully that will clear out any broken link. Other way is to go to JL home page - then click on browser refresh button.
Suzi
I will try that. I mean, even the article on how to become a teacher won't open.
It happens to me, too.
I did what Suzi suggested (thank you Suzi) but still can't read the articles.
Heike
Yes, I did too. And when I hit the button to apply for the teaching 'permit', it plainly says... Teacher's Guide
Read this guide before applying for Teacher status and before posting tutorials. Soooooooooo, I again clicked the link. I still can't read it.
Beth try going through the "Write" page....that's where you can check out about becoming a teacher, and put in your request to do so.
hey if re-booting your browser doesn't work - and if others are experiencing the same problems - and the info isn't related to the Teachers Lounge specifically - then it's definitely a glitch..and Admin would need to be notified.
:)
And this not accessable either.

Yeah, so how do we notify admin? I did go thru the Write link. Thanks for 'holding my hand' while I quietly go buggy over here. *cheezy grin*
Me thinks that it is some form of website maintenance that is causing the issues. I read another Q & A about gallery and maybe tutorial updates. So they may be having to update the entire website to adress these filters or what ever it was called. I do like the idea of finding things easier.
I am wondering about my timing tho. Heh...I would chose a time when things don't work. Funny, isn't it?
lol...mmm yep....if your like me - an Aussie....seems I ALWAYS pick the time they are doing maintenance...haha
Eni usually reads posts with issues so she can let Tech know about it....but you can alwys send her a private message to let her know.
:)

Sorry I did not see this question. Security has been increased and certain articles marked "Teacher's Lounge" are no longer accessible to all members. (Which is how it should be).
However, we are still working on a display message which would say "this article is available to teachers only", or something like that, which should remove the confusion.
It will show up soon.
Thanks for the understanding,
Eni
JL Admin
I try to download a few of the free tutorials but when I hit the download button It will not download. I just get a blank screen
Opalgem, you probably have a full web browser cache and it doesn't allow you to download anymore. Empty your cache (and history) and it will allow you to continue to download).
Eni
I do understand about keeping stuff private but it plainly says, read this first... >>> http://www.jewelrylessons.com/node/article/guide-first-time-teachers
Then nothing happens. How are we supposed to follow directions when the directions don't work? Thanks for responding. *crosses fingers, hoping*
Yeah, Suzi, I look when things stop working. Hmmmmm. Or maybe I break it?
