Bead Caps

Uploaded on: Jan 01, 2009
Level: Easy
Description:

Have you ever wondered what your beads or gemstones would look like with your own handmade bead caps? This lesson shows you how to produce versatile, attractive and durable bead caps from polymer clay. These days, polymer clay can become almost anything you desire as the imitative techniques are endless. Polymer clay can simulate many materials, including stone, wood, bone and even metal, as these bead caps will demonstrate. Decorative buttons will be used as the texture of the bead caps. The finished bead caps will fit 15mm beads, but smaller (or larger) ones can easily be made by choosing smaller or larger buttons for the mold.

Dang! Just yesterday - honest, I swear - I was telling one of my polymer friends exactly how I would go about doing EXACTLY this! Just goes to show : Great minds think alike! This looks like a great one.

What a wonderful idea! When I first saw the tutorial, I was about to pass it by without reading as I assumed they were made of PMC & I can't afford a kiln. But I can use my stove oven to make these & they really do look like they're made of metal! This is an exciting discovery for me as I had no idea polymer clay could look like this. (Can you tell I've never worked with it but now would love to.)
