This really looks like a snowflake! :)
I love the snowflake,I am just now learning to do real beading.that tiny string is very diffulcult for me.LOL

do you have to have size 3mm swarovski or can it all be done in 4mm?

Yes, it can be done with 4mm as well. The difference is that the 'points' of the snowflake not be as protruding as when you use the 3mm ones at the centre. Using a smaller bead near the centre allows the 'points' to stand out more. Well, in any case, the difference is only a subtle one but not to the extent of not do-able at all.
