Description:

COILED JEWELS (3 projects pendant earrings bangle): This bumper step-by-step tutorial has detailed instructions (150 steps with 150 close-up photographs) for 3 jewellery projects: pendant, earrings and bangle.

Firstly it shows you how to create a COILED JEWEL PENDANT, including clear instructions on shaping and hammering wire, creating spirals and wrapping and coiling techniques.

Using the same techniques, the lesson goes on to show you how to create COILED JEWEL EARRINGS and a COILED JEWEL BANGLE with suggested variations.

The ‘coiled jewel’ design is very versatile and can be used in many jewellery making projects. The techniques you learn from this tutorial can also be easily adapted to different shaped pendants, earrings and bangles.

Permission to sell finished project... I received this question this morning and thought I would post my reply...

Q: I just bought one of your tutorials and I'm wondering if I can sell the finished project in an upcoming show. I have no interest in mass producing or selling your tutorial, and I do plan on giving you credit for your creativity. If there's a particular way you want me to word the phrase that gives you credit, please let me know. Also, if having me sell the finished project is going to cause problems with copyrights please let me know and I won't sell them.

A: I am absolutely fine about you selling any jewellery you make following either of my tutorials. I appreciate you asking but I genuinely feel that buyers of tutorials should be able to sell the jewellery they make no matter where the design came from.

Yes, I would certainly appreciate you add a reference to me (K S Jewellery Designs) in your selling details - either linking to the tutorial here on JL or to my blog.

Please do also post a photo of the finished piece on JL and link it to the student gallery of the tutorial - this will hopefully help inspire others.

Hello: Where could I find the dowel or stepped mandrel that was used in this project? I know I could use anything but I thought that the one you used would help out with a lot of different projects. Also please specify if I need to buy a stepped ring or bracelet mandrel for this project. Thank you!

Hi labro7 - thanks for your questions.

My stepped dowel is made by Fiskars and comes in a set of 2. The one I use the most is the one in the photos in this tutorial and helps make different sized circles and ovals. The other dowel has triangles and squares. I bought it about 2 years ago on eBay and it has been very useful (although definitely NOT essential for any of the projects in this tutorial - the earrings can be easily shaped around a pen and the pendant can be shaped around something wider like a glue stick).

The bangle in this tutorial does not need a mandrel as it is shaped by hand.

Good luck with your jewellery making.
Kristin :)
