Egyptian Spiral Bracelet with Clasp

Uploaded on: Mar 02, 2009
Level: Intermediate
Description:

The design of the Egyptian Spiral is centuries old. Jewelry artists have used this design in many different ways to enhance their work. This bracelet is my expression of that old classic. One of the wonderful features of this bracelet is its incredible flow and flexibility. It moves like a slinky and it is super comfortable to wear. Even though I have called this lesson Intermediate I have taught it to beginning students successfully. The Tutorial is written with a lot of easy to understand detail so don't be afraid to try it if you are a beginner. I have updated this tutorial for Metric measurements as well as inches.
CREDITS: This is my variation of the Classic Egyptian Spiral Bracelet. Wire Jewelry Artists have used this design for many years. At this time it is unknown who first created this design.

Post a Tip about this Tutorial

Wow, Pat, what a superb tutorial -- really well made -- congratulations! And I love the way you changed a really well known design and gave it a little twist, something different.

Thanks Eni, this is such a favorite with the students I teach at a local bead shop. They learn how to work in wire but the project is not so difficult that it's discouraging to them. Everyone leaves the class very happy. I love when that happens. :0)

I took a class on the Egyptian Coil bracelet and really loved it. I love this twist on the design even more.

Thanks so much LRH, this design is a favorite with my students when I give live classes. They are all amazed at how complicated it seems to them when they see it and how relatively easy it was to do. It's a great piece when your just not quite a beginner and want to try something a little more complicated.

I love this bracelet, I've seen it done many times but I like what you did with the twisted wire in the middle. I'm just learning but I think I can do this. Thanks Pat for posting this one.

Thanks LinRose, once you get the hang of making the links it goes pretty easy and fast. And you have the choice of oxidizing it or leaving it shinny, it looks great either way.
Pat.... :-D

Thanks Ali, it is a classic isn't it!!! And the design is so versatile you can incorporate the links with a variety of different jewelry design. Thanks for commenting; :-D

There are instructions in the tutorial to adjust for size and yes you can replace the coil with a bead if the hole is large enough and attach a different clasp if you would like. Thanks for the inquiry.
