Herringbone Weave

By Eni

Uploaded on: Jul 17, 2008
Level: Easy
Description:

This pretty and simple weave (lashing) can easily be done over almost any kind of wrapped bead, forming a "diamond" shape. Notice how the front is different than the back, caused by the regular lashing. This technique is not my invention, it is based on french beaded flower techniques and also in basketry.

LUV this Tutorial! I have this tute! Eni, thanks for all of the beautiful & affordable tutorials that you have shared over the years with the many folks wishing to learn this fine art! Thanks! Juli ;)

Eni, I have admired your work since Joan at Etsy referred me to your old website years ago. I will order more wire now. Thanks for the free beginner tutes--I am hooked!

Eni, I love your page, I learned from here the herringbone technique, do you have DVD of the wire wrapping techniques?

I do NOT have a DVD with my techniques, unfortunately... There are too many other things to do!!!!

Eni, I love your tutorials, and have learned alot from the ones I bought. I have a question about the herringbone technique. I have seen this done without the loop at the bottom, and wondered how this is done. I also wondered the same thing about the coiled bead. Can you post how to do that, even if it is for a price?

Going to try this as soon as I get my Etsy orders done (I smith, so this will be an awesome challenge). I cannot wait, I have looked all over for this technique! Thank you! (Oh and I've admired your work for a while, you are incredible!)

thanks for the tutorial.will be giving it a go asap..

Thank you for your wonderful comments... I will try to post the option of doing it without the loop at the bottom soon, very soon.

I finally got it right and made a very nice herringbone weave pendant..thanks for your help!!

This is a great tutorial for those that have never done the weave - like myself I'd seen it but didn't know how to get it just right. This makes it so simple! Thanks so much.

wow !! This is so beautiful ! Downloaded it and will try it for sure !

I finally tried this and it came out beautiful. Thank you for the great pictures and instructions.

I'm so glad you liked it! It takes a little practice to get the wires straight, but after you do... it's a breeze!
