Net Bezel Pendant

By EniPower Teacher Jan2010

Uploaded on: Jul 10, 2008
Level: Advanced
Description:

This lesson shows how to trap a cabochon in a netted bezel, creating a fabulously elegant pendant. The technique is so versatile it can be adapted to range from simple and elegant to heavily ornate.

This lesson can also be combined with the Border for Net Bezel, to create very organic looking pieces.

Note 1: although you can use any shape and size stone you like, make sure the stone is relatively flat on the back. This makes it easier to trap it in the net.

Note 2: Although the thickness can vary, prefer flatter cabs, since they are easier to net. The example used here is 1/4" thick.

LUV this Tutorial! I have this tute! Eni, thanks for all of the beautiful & affordable tutorials that you have shared over the years with the many folks wishing to learn this fine art! Thanks! Juli ;)

This is BY FAR the most valuable tutorial I have ever purchased. The netting technique can be used in so many ways that I find it difficult to NOT incorporate it into every piece! :-} Thanks for the easy to understand tutorials Eni. I have two binders full and can tell I'm probably going to have to begin another quite soon!

gemstone displays

This is the first tutorial I bought. My pendant turned out so beautiful my friends couldn't believe I actually made such a beautiful piece since I only consider myself intermediate at best. The directions and pictures were so clear and concise, it seemed no fail. Thank you for such a great venue for those of us fairly new to jewelry design and creation.

Could I use this technique w/sea glass? I'm wondering because the glass is irregular if I'd be able to secure it in place w/this technique. Thanks in advance.

Oops, pls. ignore my last post...I see on the materials list that sea glass is listed...thanks.

Very good tutorial, but I have sausage fingers. Very difficult for me, and so far all of my attempts look terrible. At least I know how to do it! It's the only tutorial I can find that wraps whole gemstones! Thank you very much for the knowledge.

Dear Eni, is it possible to coil first on a straight wire then frame the cabochon? My attempt at coiling on the wire and sliding it onto the frame resulted in some kinks. Thanks!!!

Yes, it is very possible to coil on a straight wire, but you must be very careful when bending the wire, or else you might squish the coils or separate them.

Thanks, Eni, I figured there must be a reason why your tutorial suggested bending the wire into a frame first and coiling the wire after that.

Also, if you coil on a straight wire, you will not allow for the net to conform to the shape of the cab, which is fundamental when using irregular cabs.

How do I pay again for this tutorial? I bought one and gave a copy to my brother for Christmas. Please tell me how to pay for that copy. He does not have any means of getting online to buy it. Thanks!
