Description: This lesson shows how to make a polymer swirl. I never could quite get it down from other tutorials I saw, so I had to eventually create my own way of doing it. So if you’ve been having problems trying to replicate the swirl the traditional way, this should help. Price: $0.00

What impresses me is that you got the right angle on the pic to grab the mica! NOT an easy thing to do. Kudos! People, NOTICE that! It's one of the most cool effects ever and mica makes clay go from great to out of this world with the way it throws the light around.
I am dying to go home and try this. I struggle with the glass version all the time and I love to swirl beads. I am totally impressed. Thank you.
Thanks guys! I hope that the tutorial's helpful to you.
Wow! Fabulous! Thank you!

How did you add the bail that's shown in the photo? By the way, I love this tutorial!

As an ex-polymer worker, I was interested in how you made your swirls as I used to do them, also. My method is a bit different, but the end result is very similar. Good job. John
To Corked: I did the bail by using a piece of 20 gauge wire to make a loop and then wrapped that wire around the base. I inserted the bail before I baked and left it in there when I baked it. I took it out after baking and used jewelry glue to keep it in.

Vickie, This is FANTASTIC!!! I'm just getting involved with Polymer Clay and your tutorial is done SOOOOO well that even as a beginner.....I have no doubt that I can get it right the FIRST time! It will definitely be the first thing that I try making! Thank you for creating such a well done tutorial...the pictures really make it work!

Vickie, Thank you! I ran across a set of lampwork beads online that I just had to have for a pair of earrings. I wasn't prepared to buy in bulk so off I went in search at my local bead stores. Nothing was quite right. I had seen this lesson a while ago and meant to try it out. Well... I worked on it tonight and the beads came out fabulous. Mine are a little smaller in scale for earrings. Now I just need to fire them up with a bunch of other beads and I will have my new earrings before the weekend... Thank you!!
I'm so glad you all like this tutorial. Post some picture of what you've done with it.

http://www.jubeadilation.synthasite.comThat was a really good tutorial. I had to try it straight away. And it worked! I think my coil was thicker than yours, so I only need one circle of it to get the bead, and that already had a swirl look so I just rolled that in my hands. Great! However I had to see if it made a difference more like yours so I rolled and twisted the rest of my coil so I got a couple of circles for the next bead. I don't think you could tell which was which in the end.
Sorry I haven't got pic yet
