This lesson shows how to tube-rivet a lampwork disc to a stamped sterling silver disc, and then add wire to make a kinetic pendant. The technique can be used to make links for other jewelry designs as well.

  • 1” 22ga sterling silver disc
  • Lampwork disc with suggested 3/32” hole
  • 3/32” outer diameter sterling tubing (or whatever size just fits inside lampwork hole)
  • 6” dead-soft 18-gauge sterling wire
  • Accent bead
  • Liver of sulfur (optional)

  • Fine permanent marker
  • Ruler or circle template
  • Center punch
  • Steel bench block
  • Jewelry hammer (for striking steel)
  • Chasing hammer (shiny face)
  • Drill & bits
  • Thumb protector
  • Protective eyewear
  • Steel design stamp
  • Metal file--medium
  • Steel wool--000 grade
  • Pro-polishing pad or 3M polishing pad/paper
  • Digital calipers (optional)
  • Bench pin
  • Jeweler’s saw
  • Chain nose pliers (2 pair
  • or 1 chain + 1 flat)
  • Round nose pliers
  • Wire cutters
