TUTORIAL:

Weave Ring

Uploaded on: Feb 24, 2009
Level: Intermediate
Description:

With this lesson you will learn how to make an all wire ring with mixed metals. This is a very attractive and versatile ring that can be worn by Men as well as Women I have made this ring for couples, in his and hers versions, or as a friendship ring. Just by changing the gauge of the wire and/or adding or subtracting the amount of wire in the bundle you can change the look of the ring to suit the wearer. The interlocking weaving of the wires symbolizes connecting in togetherness, similar to holding hands with your fingers interlaced. This project takes a small amount of wire and after a little practice you will be able to make this ring in under an hour. This ring has been a favorite with my students as well as with my clients. I've updated this tutorial for Metric measurements as well as inches.
CREDITS: I recently was able to trace the ring that inspired me back to a Jim Llewellyn book published some where in the late 50's or early 60's. Others have published the exact design but what I discovered was
it was exact because it was photocopied directly from Jim's book, without permission I might add. :-( So at this time Jim Llewellyn deserves the credit for designing this beautiful ring.
Thank you Jim

Post a Tip about this Tutorial

Betty's ring.

Thank you so much! I still haven't figured out the picture thing. Two rings made already. The first so so, the second just right. The tutorial is very clear and easy to follow.

This ring is dedicated to a dear friend of mine who challenged me to make a ring a couple of years ago. I never got that ring made before she died.

I think that she would be pleased to see this ring and to know that I am still learning new things.
