These are adorable! Thanks for posting!

Be careful when hammering not to hammer any overlaid metal as this weakens the metal very quickly.

They look great. Can you tell me if I can use Artistic wire to create them? I am only starting out and as yet have not progresed to Silver.

Oh, these are SUCH fun little flowers... So pretty!

Artistic wire should be certainly fine for the 'basic' unhammered design. I'm not sure about hammering artistic wire.

A RECENT QUESTION ABOUT MY TUTORIAL ........
Hi Kristin -
I bought the tutorial for the adorable little flower earrings. I have a question about the burnisher. This is the first I've heard about using one, but it seems to do a lovely job on the fine wire.
Can you tell me about using it? Does the wire cup forward a bit? Do you have to press very hard? Do you prefer it to tumbling?
I know - lots of questions!
Thanks so much. Jill
MY REPLY ........
Hi Jill
Thanks for your message. I am so pleased you like my tutorial and no worries about the questions.
A 'burnisher' is a tool made from very smooth and shiny hard stainless steel. I got my first burnisher with my Art Clay Silver kit for burnishing (shining) the silver after firing. It squashes down the surface as you rub the tool over the metal and makes it very shiny. I found it also works well on hammered sterling silver wire. (Here is a link to the website that I get some of my tools from that might help explain more:http://www.silverclay.co.uk/teto.htm )
It does tend to turn the petals up a bit with 24 gauge wire (which I quite like as it makes the petals look more real) but this can be straightened out a bit with pliers. You do have to press fairly hard but find a good surface to put your flower on - I use a wooden block which offers support but also is a little flexible.
I have tumbled my flowers but hesitate sometimes depending on the gemstone I've used as I worry about the tumbling rounding off the edges of micro-faceted beads (I've had that happen a few times and it's frustrating when you've spent so long making a piece of jewellery).
Recently I have been using sanding papers to remove tool marks on my silver wire jewellery and this makes the silver have a lovely soft shiny finish.
Good luck with your flowers - I look forward to seeing some of the jewellery you make.
Best regards, Kristin :)

Your flower earrings are so endearing. Those were very good questions and helpful answers. Thanks for posting the silverclay link, I'll be checking that read :)

Thank you Eni. Yes, definitely for girls but I'm not sure whether this tutorial will be suitable for the JL Expressions challenge! Can these flowers be masculine?

Kristin, those are my attempts at your earrings in your gallery. I wear the purple ones to death and I'm no girl hehe. They look fabulous when you only want little earrings. I've since made others in different shapes. The tute is fantastic and I can make a pair in half an hour if I concentrate.
Love em, Cas xxx

Thank you Cas. You did a great job with your earrings. I am so pleased you have found the tutorial easy to follow.

I bought this tutorial, and the instructions are very clear and easy to understand. I decided to make a very large one out of heavier wire for a pendant, and someone actually bought it from me while I was wearing it!! Thanks so much!
Tina

Hey Tina - that's great news - do you have a picture of your pendant? Thanks for the good feedback on my tutorial. I too have been making flowers out of heavier gauge wire - see my Flower Bracelet in the 'Student Work Gallery' - this was made using 20 gauge sterling silver wire and the flower measures about 2.5cm wide.

Hi Kristin. Thank you for this tutorial, these little flowers are so sweet. I have been working on a design for larger flowers in 24g, they come out to 1 1/2 to 2 inches, but haven't been happy with the way the center is working. Do you mind if I adapt your cool weaving technique for the center? Also love your idea to use the burnisher. Thanks for sharing.
Carol

Hi Carol
I'm so glad you have found my tutorial useful. It is good of you to ask about adapting the design - sure, no problem, adapt away!!!
I would love to see your designs when you have finished them - please share them on JL. Also your adaptations might help others.
Happy creating
Kristin :)
